Our waterfowl hunts
take place near our lodge on Yakutat Bay. Our hunts begin during
the second week of October, and run through mid-December. Sea duck
shooting over decoys is from shore blinds and Barnegat sneakboxes used
as layout boats. Sea duck limits are generous and the setting is
spectacular. Puddle duck shooting over decoys takes place on the
many rivers, lakes, and marshes in the area.
| During
the course of our season, a wide variety of waterfowl species are
hunted. These include: |
Nothern Shoveler
Pintail
Widgeon
Greater Scaup
American Goldeneye
Harlequin
Ring-necked Duck
Hooded Merganser
Red-breasted Merganser
White-winged Scoter
Canada Goose |
Mallard
Gadwall
Green-winged Teal
Lesser Scaup
Barrows Goldeneye
Old Squaw
Bufflehead
Common Merganser
Black Scoter
Surf Scoter |

(steel shot in sizes #2 - #6, 10 boxes per hunter should suffice)
- Camera with
appropriate film (ISO 200 or 400)

A
suggestion for those who have not owned or used some of the man
made polyester garments is that we find them excellent in our wet
climate. They are warm, lightweight, comfortable, and are
quickly dried. Wool, of course, is the classic clothing for
cold and wet weather. We recommend wool or polyester garments
under your raingear.
